Most people know the quote as “If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again.” This, of course, is designed to institute a persistent mentality. Then, W.C. Fields (b. 1880, d. 1946) wrote, If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again. Then quit. There’s no point in being a damn fool about it.” Funny (he was a comedian), not right, but in the correct direction.

Then, I saw this Tweet: erikcecilIf at first you don’t succeed, … retool your blog; reworking and relaunching my blog via new platform.”

So I’ve come up with: If at first you don’t succeed, figure out why, optimize, then try again.
